Organization over sexual exploration

Sontag said, “Do stuff. Be clenched, curious. Not waiting for inspiration's shove or society's kiss on your forehead. Pay attention. It's all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager.” In the new world order, where the City of New York has told us outright that, “You are your safest sexual partner” and “Kissing can easily pass COVID-19,” how are we supposed to stay clenched and curious? I’ve cut my teeth in this strange world developing little theories and guides for myself to stay sane, only to be met at every turn with exceptions to the rule. The scariest part of this (to me, in a very very privileged position) isn’t staying in my house or not having toilet paper. It’s the unknown — that we just have to live through it, in sickness and health, day by day, and wake up every morning just accepting that the universe is an odd, odd place.
