Do you remember the years before kissing people, when we kissed things? Mirrors, the backs of our hands, a pillow — any inanimate object that would have us.

Girls will practice an artful, crude version of sexuality a million times before ever feeling lips on lips and then wonder why we're "in our heads."

Really though, girls are good at kissing because a kiss has never just been a kiss. It's always been the reflection on the lake, the promise of love, the tart freshness of a clementine in a lunch bag, recognizing the opening chord of your favorite song. It's knowledge, the start of something and power all wrapped into a simple movement. The time walks away from you, quickly.
